Drew Clarke – Community Support Worker Graduate, Kelowna
“Returning to school was one of the most important decisions I’ve ever made. While I had built a successful career in retail, I wanted to pursue more meaningful work that would allow me to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Through the Community Support Worker program at Discovery Community College, I gained the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to build a rewarding career in community support services.
Like many students, I faced challenges along the way, including self-doubt, financial barriers, and balancing family responsibilities with work and studies. What I found at DCC was more than a college. It was a supportive community that encouraged personal growth, fostered confidence, and opened doors to new opportunities. Today, I am proud to be a graduate, have earned multiple distinctions, and have been offered a leadership role through my practicum placement. My advice to others is simple: believe in yourself, stay focused, and never be afraid to ask for help when you need it.”
