“My journey toward becoming a nurse began several years ago when an instructor encouraged me to continue my education and pursue a career in nursing. As a single mother of two, leaving my hometown of Powell River to attend school was a difficult decision, but I was determined to achieve my goal of helping more people and building a meaningful career in healthcare.

After being waitlisted for another nursing program, I found a new opportunity through Discovery Community College. With the support of my family and the DCC team, I secured funding, overcame obstacles, and excelled in my studies. Today, I am proud to be completing my nursing education and preparing to begin my career in acute care. My advice to others is simple: take the leap. The challenges may seem daunting, but the rewards are absolutely worth it.”
