“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for giving me the opportunity to attend the Social Service Worker and Mental Health Program through Discovery Community College.

Before beginning this course, I was working at the Brain Injury Group, where I had the privilege of supporting individuals in their recovery and day-to-day challenges. This experience sparked my passion for continuing to learn and grow within the mental health and support field.

This program has truly been an incredible experience. I’ve not only learned so much but also had a lot of fun along the way. The instructors and classmates created such a supportive and engaging environment that made each lesson meaningful and enjoyable. Through this program, I’ve gained valuable knowledge, practical skills, and confidence that will allow me to provide a higher level of care to the clients I work with.

After finishing this program I would like to contribute supporting my community and will be applying for employment at Axis Family Resources where I had my practicum placement because I loved working with them and the clients were fantastic.

I now feel more equipped to handle a wide variety of situations with understanding, empathy, and effective strategies. This training has strengthened my ability to make a real difference in the lives of those I support.
